The film brought us to the battlefield Pacific - where the U.S. Marine now facing the Japanese Imperial Army. Based on two memoirs With the Old Breed by Eugene Sledge and Helmet for My Pillow by Robert Leckie, the film focuses on the journey of three soldiers: commissioned Eugene "Sledgehammer" Sledge, Sergeant John Basilone gunners, infantry second Robert Leckie, spent the war with the Japanese Imperial Army, including the famous battle at Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, Peleliu, Okinawa and Iwo Jima.
